Oops!

So after spending a good chunk of the day driving all over town shooting outside in 93+ degree temperatures, I pulled into our garage exhausted and ready for a cold drink and some AC.  While unloading the gear from my car, I hadn’t noticed that I had left the main zipper open on my camera bag that holds all my lenses.  I went to swing it onto my shoulder when…..

I heard a whooshing sound, then silence that seemed to last forever, and then a horrible THUD accompanied by a loud CRACK.  Oh no!  My BEST and most expensive lens!   Glass shattered and it rolled underneath the car.  After some expletives, I gingerly reached down and picked it up just knowing it was going to be a disaster.  But wait!  Yes!  I have a clear glass UV filter on to protect it and….yes!  It looks like it’s just the filter that is shattered!

I’ve since cleaned all the glass out but the UV filter is stuck and won’t come off!  Closer inspection shows it’s slightly bent.  Looks like I’ll be taking it to a camera repair shop…  =(

Mother’s Day

This morning Zakary and I cooked breakfast for Korine and Grandma who was visiting for the weekend.  We spent most of the day playing and doing things around the house like painting.  Late afternoon the sun decided to come out so of course we went outside to take photos!  =)

Space Needle View

It’s 9:30 pm on Saturday evening and we’re sitting in the airport waiting for our red eye flight back to Blacksburg.  Korine is trying to get Zakary to go to sleep but he’s insistent on “going night night ON the plane…”.  So, I thought I’d process a few more shots from the space needle which is definitely a must do if you’re ever in Seattle.

Downtown Seattle

I’m in Seattle this week for the AAG (Association of American Geographers).  Zakary and I are hanging out doing fun things while Korine gives her talk and does other conference type stuff.  The AAG is held in a different city each year, which is cool because we usually make a family vacation out of it.  This shot is from the top of the Space Needle looking at downtown Seattle.  Makes me want to go back for a night shot!

Mountain View

Had the pleasure of shooting a great house this weekend with a gorgeous view.  This is standing on the front porch.  The owner told me she’s seen a double rainbow over those mountains!

Tiger

I went outside for a walk in the field, low and behold, I ran into a tiger!
